What is Recreational Soccer? Our recreational soccer program is a program that is open to all players from age 3 to those in 6th grade. There are no tryouts or cuts. You sign your players up and they are placed on a team. The program is a 6-week season that will consist of team practices, team games and an end of the season tournament.
-
How many times per week do they play? Our season is designed to provide every player the foundational training and skills of soccer as well as keep it fun and entertaining for the kids (and parents)! Every week there will be two days of playing- one during the week and one on Saturday. The day during the week will be attempted to be the same for the entire season depending on their age division.
-
What equipment will my player need to play? The following items are highly recommended to participate and keep your player safe and in the best position to learn. OWN SOCCER BALL (this is new this fall season) Soccer specific cleats Shinguards Socks to wear up to the players knee that covers their entire shinguard. Some shinguards come with a built in sock Shorts Jersey will be provided as part of registration Water bottle to bring to each training and game We also recommend that you visit Soccer City in Bellingham (next to Best Buy) to find all your soccer equipment needs. They have been a strong supporter of North County Alliance and are one of the reasons we can offer registration fees so low.
-
How are the age divisions split up?We group players by age to encourage fair balance of play and levels of development. Groups of teams will be divided as follows: Age 3 coed Age 4 coed Age 5 and Kindergarteners Boys Girls 1st grade and 2nd grade Boys Girls 3rd and 4th grade Boys Girls 5th and 6th grade Boys Girls
-
How many players on a team and play on the field at once?To help encourage that all players are active and involved in the games we set different playing formations per age division: Age 3/4: 4v4 with no goalies Age 5/K: 4v4 with no goalies 1/2 grade: 7v7 with goalies 3/4 grade: 7v7 with goalies 5/6 grade: 7v7 with goalies

Who coaches the teams?Like most recreational soccer programs, Rebel Rec is coached by parent or community volunteers. Each team will need an assigned coach to help manage training sessions and games. We look for a parent of one of the players on the team to volunteer. To make it easy on our volunteer coaches we offer a few things: Waived player registration fee Full training session plans with drills and instructions Training equipment (cones and pinnies) We also encourage our older NCA players in our club program to take the opportunity to teach the game that they love. This gives our high school aged players a great way to give back to the community.
-
Can I request that my child be placed on a team with their friends?Yes, they can. They can enter in their friends name during the registration process but there are a few rules around requests to avoid confusion and teams being unevenly placed. Please note the following: For friends to be placed together both families must request each other during the registration process There is a max of only two friend requests per player If the friend does not request to be paired with your child in return, the pairing will not be completed If there are carpool needs then it is highly recommended you use the two friend requests to accommodate There will be no exceptions to this rule to take more than two friend requests

REBEL REC PROGRAM LEADERS

Kim and Josh Howell have been with the club since day 1 and we are incredibly fortunate to have them leading our new recreational program.

Josh has an extensive coaching and playing background in soccer and he will be bringing that same expertise and organization to give our rec coaches and players to set a strong foundation of soccer.

Kim has a passion and knack for logistics, coordination and bringing complex situations together for the benefit of the community and families. Her ability to craft an experience for others is unmatched and a perfect fit for creating a program that will keep players and families coming back season after season.

We are so thankful for the Howells lending their gifts to the club.
